Local Information
CRACYP works with over two hundred rural communities in the western foothills of Ecuador's Andes mountains, roughly in the area where the three provinces of Bolívar, Cotopaxi and Los Ríos meet.  Ecuador is located in South America, on the Equator, between Colombia and Peru.
The main language of Ecuador is Spanish, though indigenous languages such as Quichua are also widely spoken.  Ecuador has around twenty different ethnic groups with their own costumes, traditions and dialects.
The North American dollar is used as currency in Ecuador, following the dollarization in the year 2000 of the earlier Ecuador currency, the Sucre.  Ecuador has its own coins, though American coins are also accepted, but the dollar bills from the USA are the only paper money used in Ecuador.
